Dermal Fillers Miami
Your initial consultation with BOD Cosmetic Surgery in Miami is free and will be an informative session for both you and the surgeon. You will learn about dermal fillers, the nonsurgical way to correct the wrinkles and lines on your face. The surgeon will evaluate your face and learn what you want to see as the result of dermal fillers.
The surgeon will make sure you understand that dermal filler injections are not permanent and will need to be repeated to keep the results. Juvaderm is currently one of the longest lasting dermal fillers, often providing results for up to one year. The good news, as your doctor will tell you, is that there are no limitations on how many injections you can have in one year.
During your consultation you should make sure you ask for pictures of prior patients. Each type of filler has different training sessions that must be attended in order to offer the services.
Types of Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are injectable gels that have been approved for use in cosmetic procedures. There are many types of dermal fillers on the market today; however, the most common are Juvaderm and Restylane. These are injected into the skin in the areas that have been indicated prior to the procedure. The fillers plump up the wrinkles and make the skin appear smooth and supple. They can also be used to plump the lips and create a fuller mouth.
The Dermal Filler Procedure
Dermal filler procedures are quick and relatively painless. The procedure is performed in the surgeon’s office, and you can return to work immediately after, if you want. Before your procedure starts, your surgeon will mark the areas on your face that are going to receive the injections. If you have a severe aversion to pain, local anesthesia may be requested; however, most patients do not require anesthesia. Many dermal filler products contain a local anesthetic that help lessen the pain.
After the doctor injects the dermal filler, ice packs are applied for ten or fifteen minutes. You are then allowed to leave and resume your normal, daily activities. The entire procedure takes less than an hour and depends on how many injection sites are being filled.
After you leave the cosmetic surgeon’s office, you may notice some swelling and redness. Some people will have slight bruising. This varies from person to person and depends on their body. It is impossible to predict who will bruise and who will not.
It typically takes one to two days before you see the results of your injections. You do not have to do anything special after the injections and can even wear makeup, although your surgeon may ask you to wait up to 12 hours.
